If you’ve always wanted to visit another planet but can’t afford a seat on the Virgin Galactic, take a drive across Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, a 4,050 square mile salt flat that looks downright unearthly.
Many begin their trip in Uyuni and drive west into the endless horizon of the flats on a three or four-day trip. Along with the salt flats you can see volcanoes, deserts, and perhaps even a few flamingos.
