Farmers and crops will suffer
Extreme heat and weather patterns would undeniably take a toll on the American farming sector. It’s estimated that crop yields could potentially decrease by 25% and that droughts like the recent one in California would become a common occurrence.
Farmers and other outdoor workers would also lose an estimated 15 to 45 working hours per year due to extreme temperatures and the U.S. government could incur an added cost of $40 billion to $150 billion per year simply battling workforce heat stress.
