A Night Out at the Theater: The Theatrical Sensations Currently Sweeping the Globe
| August 31, 2018
The Play That Goes Wrong
This hysterical play is the latest tribute to the grand theatrical tradition of breaking. The audience loves when actors can’t seem to hold it together, and flashes of their real-life personas emerge onstage.
The Play That Goes Wrong is a farce about an amateur theater troupe trying to present a serious dramatic play while dealing with their own incompetence. The play first premiered in London in 2012 and went on tour before it settled down for a run on the West End in 2014. It opened on Broadway in 2017, where it was produced by veteran film director J.J. Abrams.
