Meat Pie
Whatever you do, don’t tell an Australian that you prefer English pie! Meat pie is eaten all over the land down under, but it would have come to the region thanks to English and Irish immigrants in the 18th century.
Meat pie was already famous in the United Kingdom, and the settlers quickly set about making it their own to create the quintessential dish that we know today. Both Australian and British meat pies are made with beef and gravy, but one big difference is that Aussies often douse their pastries with liberal amounts of tomato ketchup.
