The World in Noodle Dishes

Shan Noodles

You may not have heard of Shan noodles, but they are hugely popular in Myanmar, especially in Shan State where they originated. Shan noodles are considered a staple food in Myanmar, much like bread or potatoes in Western countries. They are made using glutinous rice flour, which gives them an amazingly chewy texture and a sticky consistency.

Shan noodles are usually doused in pork or chicken stock to form a soup, and topped with pork or chicken, and green vegetables. People in Myanmar tend to eat this dish all day long as it is a famous street food snack.
