The Brink of Extinction: The Most Endangered Animals in the World
| November 9, 2018
Amur Leopard
There are thought to be only 60 amur leopards left on the entire planet making it the rarest and most endangered large cat left on earth.
With their gorgeous coats and fluffy tails, amur leopards, which dwell in the vast forests of Russia and North East China, have certainly been targets for hunters over the years, but today their population is mostly threatened by habitat loss. Logging, farming, forest fires, and urban development have decreased their home forests to the point that there are only a handful of the species left. Conservationists continue to monitor the remaining amur leopard population using camera traps and still hold out hope that this majestic cat will make a comeback.
