How Will Brexit Affect American Travelers?
| July 6, 2016
Can I travel without a passport within the EU?
Obviously, you will need your passport to enter the EU, but once you’re there, countries that are members of the Schengen Area will not ask to see your passport if you’re crossing from one Schengen country to another. However, countries are able to reintroduce border controls if they feel that any situation warrants it (the most recent change in border policy came after the Paris terror attacks), and many have done so recently. It’s wise to always carry your passport in your hand luggage when traveling.
