Halo-halo
If you’ve never had the delicious Filipino treat halo-halo before, you may be a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities. At its heart, halo-halo is a pile of shaved ice topped with evaporated milk. Where it gets creative is with the toppings — everyone can customize their halo-halo to their own taste, but common toppings include boiled sweet kidney beans, jackfruit, pounded and crushed young rice (pinipig), and sugar palm fruit. While halo-halo is a popular treat in the Philippines, you can find similar treats called patbingsu in Korea and baobing in China.
