Architectural Brilliance: The World’s Most Breathtaking Bridges
| October 8, 2018
The Caravan Bridge, Turkey
The Caravan Bridge might not be the most pleasing, esthetically speaking, but the appeal of Turkey’s world-famous bridge is far deeper. First, consider that the bridge was built in approximately 850 B.C.E. That’s nearly 3,000 years ago! And, not only is the bridge still standing, but it’s also still functioning, making the Caravan Bridge in Turkey one of the oldest man-made structures still in use today.
Then, let’s consider that the bridge passes over Turkey’s Meles River – a body of water that shares fascinating ties with the ancient Greek poet Homer.
