Although the tradition to carve vegetables during Halloween came from Ireland, pumpkins are American! The Irish used to carve turnips and swedes, but Americans chose to use pumpkins due to their size and abundance.
The USA is the biggest producer and pumpkins are part of the culture, with pumpkin spiced lattes being served everywhere, and giant pumpkin competitions held annually! It’s also produced on all continents apart from Antarctica.
