4. The Andes Mountains
The Andes Mountains run along the western coast of South America and soar to 22,000 feet above sea level at its highest point. Some of the world’s highest volcanoes are in this mountain range. The mountains are home to 3,500 species of animals, with 600 species of mammals and 1,700 species of birds. The terrain is rough and treacherous.
