Although it’s not as ancient as some of the other universities and colleges on this list, the University of Cape Town has an impressive style that’s complemented by its proximity to one of Cape Town’s natural wonders — Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak. The main university campus is located at the base of Devil’s Peak on the Rhodes Estate, and manages to cram many faculties into a small number of buildings. The original buildings of Upper Campus were constructed between 1928 and 1930, with two more campuses following soon after. The central focus of Upper Campus is Memorial Hall, which hosts convocations and other university ceremonies.
