1. Morondava – Madagascar
Madagascar has a very unique flora and fauna due to its isolation from its neighboring African continent, and sometimes ecologists like to call it “the eighth continent.” The majority of the 10,000 native plants of the country (approximately 90 percent) cannot be found anywhere in the world.
On the west coast of Madagascar, you’ll find Morondava, a small quiet town with beautiful beaches and the perfect base to explore the Kirindy Forest Reserve. The reserve is home to the majestic baobab trees and to the smallest primate in the world, the Madame Berthe’s mouse lemur.
